Affiliate links that allowed
-
Previously I have read here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/I want to ask, is it okay affiliate links such as GoDaddy, HostGator and reputable local store/hosting company?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, such ads won’t be effective on a site which has chosen a host OTHER than them. But I guess since staff said affiliate links are okay in the body of a post, then they’re okay.
Note affiliate links in the sidebar or in anything that looks like an ad, are still barred.

@foxydiba We have recently changed our affiliate policy, allowing users to use affiliate links in their posts. It is still against our Terms of Service to place your own ads on a WordPress.com blog. Please review the affiliates link you provided for more information.
@raincoaster, we’ve decided to also allow links in the sidebar as well, but the ads prohibition stands.

How do you tell what’s an ad and what’s an okay affiliate link then? Because I do affiliate blogging too, and I know how to use a text widget to make something that looks like an image widget but uses an affiliate link. That’s an ad.

If the affiliate link is embedded in text or a non-ad image (like a book cover) it should be okay. If it’s an image saying “host your site at abc.com” that would be an ad.

Oh, I’m going to be testing this.
