affiliates

Hi;
The following is part of an email I recently received:….. Our company is not looking for large quantity of
participants. We are only contacting quality web sites such as yours to
be one of our affiliates. Our program is brand new, and therefore is not
saturated unlike other affiliate programs.
…All you have to do is place our link(s) or one of our banners on your
web site. This program is absolutely FREE to join.Is this sort of thing permitted on WordPress.com?
Thanks,

No, and additionally it’s probably lying to you. These kinds of things get sent out by robots indiscriminately. I have seen blogs deleted for such things.

“We still haven’t gotten back an offical response from staff on this one but it appears that affilated programs are allowed as long as 1) They’re not javascript based, 2) They’re just a link and 3) Being in the program is not the main purpose of your blog. I gave an example of a record review blog site that we have here a few weeks ago where the blogger reviews an album and provides a link to where they can buy it that includes an affliate link. “I have actually exchanged several emails with the person who originally contacted me. Not a robot. My wife and I have purchased product from this company and were very pleased.

well, what was said in 2006 may not be the case anymore in 2008 sometimes. =) while i think the faq should be a good guideline, it’s best if you get it straight from the horse’s mouth to avoid any confusion. http://wordpress.com/contact-support/
please contact the wordpress staff through that link. take note that support is only open on weekdays on certain hours. -
The easiest way to earn money even if you have a full time job is to go HARD!
Do you have lots of friends and contacts? …..then $500 is yours.

IF the blog is still there by the time you read that piece of spam. It’s already been reported.

Those in the ‘not wanted’ section may want to leave now – and I do mean now.
