Hello.
Are affiliate programme widgets permitted on WordPress blogs?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s a no go as we cannot advertise or sell any products we do not personally create or sell services we do not personally provide on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising, affiliate links, paid or sponsored content you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org
Refer to > http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/There is no upgrade, aside from a VIP hosting upgrade http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ that you can purchase that allows blogger initiated advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. You will have to hire a web host and set up your own WordPress.org install to run your own advertising.
E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by WordPress.com. Paid content and/or sponsored content is not allowed.

http://en.wordpress.com/tos/On free hosted WordPress.com blog we can use a contact form and/or a PayPal donation button for sale of only products or services created or provided by ourselves.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/There must be a real blog and not just pseudo posts designed to drive traffic to third party sites with an affiliate link in each one. The only exceptions to the no affiliate links policy are found here in italics:
Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. Here is a thread in the support forums that talks more about which affiliate links are OK or not OK. http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

When you say “we”, am I to take it that you are an offduty employee of WordPress speaking on their behalf? I thought that I had seen you self-describe elsewhere as a “volunteer”. This would help me make sense of your first sentence; it’s not clear about whom you are talking.

If your primary drive is money making then hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own self hosted WordPress.ORG install. http://wordpress.org/
WordAds is for blogs on their own domains and the income is split 50% – 50% with WordPress.com. http://www.wordads.co/

No. http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/
Yes, I’m a Volunteer. I ‘m the longest serving Volunteer who has been answering questions for over 7 years. I tagged this thread for Staff so they can tell the same things I did above.

Money is good. I like money and WordPress likes money, I believe.
An even split does sound good; would you direct me, please, to where I might find numbers on what amount it is that is split when? Thank you.
I have a host. What must I do to take a WordPress blog there?

Super. Now, when you say “we cannot advertise or sell any products we do not personally create or sell services we do not personally provide on free hosted WordPress.com blogs” do you mean WordPress cannot sell or advertise any products and services not its creation – or do you mean that users can sell or advertise products and services they have created? I would like to be clear on this, thanks.

The WordAds program is only for free hosted WordPress.com blogs on their own domains. Acceptance into the program is not automatic and the program is not available to those with blogs that are not free hosted by WordPress.com.

You can move content (not the theme or text widget content) from a free hosted WordPress.com blog into a WordPress.ORG install by export http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ and import.
But http://generalpurposeaccount.wordpress.com/ appears to be devoid of any blogger created content.

Have you read this? http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
Have you read any of the information at any of the links I have posted above? -
Yes, the blog is empty. The system seems to throw in the line “The blog I need help with is blahblahblah” regardless. I am asking these questions to discover whether WordPress meets my needs and how I may best interact that everyone benefits. I am grateful for your advice; WordPress show their appreciation to you in some way, I hope.
Although WordAds would not be available on a WordPress install at my Host, I would still be able to use AdSense, &c?
An “install”, then, is a download of WordPress code to my host? Thank you.
-
I read some of those links previously and subsequently. They are a little jargonny which is why I thought it would be more helpful to speak with a person that I may get around the jargon. Imagine my surprise.

Yes, generally speaking, but do read the ToS your web host has. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate. The only blogs we provide support for here at WordPress.com are free hosted WordPress.com blogs. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

I’m sorry you don’t find clarity by reading what’s at the links I posted but not to worry as this thread is tagged for a Staff response.
Bottom line: If money making is your primary driver then a self hosted WordPress.org install is what you are looking for.
