Affinity – Blog posts only appear in full
-
Good evening,
I hope that you are all doing well.
I am trying to make my site more navigable in Affinity. To do this I am trying to show only a Preview of each post, rather than the whole thing. Each post is pretty long so requires a lot of scrolling (check out Adventure – you should see what I mean)
Is there a way in Affinity to only show the title, featured image and first x amount of lines?
Many Thanks, Scott
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Scott,

You can use More tags inserted in each post, or inserted selectively only in longer posts, to truncate them on the posts page, and on archives pages such your Adventure category page. Featured images will not be affected by the tag.
Another option would be to use Display Posts Shortcode in a static page, customized to include an image and an excerpt. I think the last image inserted in the page will be selected automatically.

With respect to the More tag option, you may determine the length of the excerpt created, but a tag must be applied at the location of your choice to each post that you want excerpted. Note that on some themes the blog page and/or the archives pages may display excerpts by default.
The excerpt created by customized Display Posts Shortcode will be of a standardized length, though the length might vary a bit depending upon the theme used.
