Affinity theme – make page wider

  • Unknown's avatar

I am using Affinity and would like to make the page wider
and also be able to go back and add to that first page Blog.

And the only option I get is to write new.

Be good to have a list of old pages to re- edit or add to, to have one continuous rolling page with side bar links to new pages.

    Can you help
    Many thanks

  • Hi @gleniceb!

Can you describe the section you’re trying to make wider a bit more? Which page or pages would be effected, and what part of the page are you picturing changing?

Making that kind of change will require the use or a Premium Plan or Business Plan and Custom CSS – Once we have a better idea of the change you want to make we can take a look for you :)

also be able to go back and add to that first page Blog.

    Your Blog page is here:
    https://thistle2fern.wordpress.com/blog/

and it collects all of your blog posts automatically, with the newest post shown first. If you click on My Site > Blog Posts > Add, you can write a post and it will appear here automatically. Is this what you meant?

    Hi Chad,
Thanks for your response. I’d prefer the whole blog to be wider when published. It looks a good width when working on the page and comes up very narrow when published. Maybe this is for mobile viewing?
I have found an edit button under the blog date, login name and leave a comment button.
The edit is needed for when others contribute more information, otherwise is the only other option delete and start again?
I thought of adding new pages for the next generations- would this work?
    Thanks
    Glenice

PS: Sorry I forgot to ask why my Title is there twice – so how do I alter it or remove it?

One is a custom-menu item. You can either remove it in your menu, or rename it something like “Home.”

As Chad said, widening the text area would require custom CSS.

The blog displays posts one underneath the other, in reverse chronological order. You create a new “post” when adding new content to your blog, and it appears at the top of the blog. Readers can subscribe to a blog, so they get an email every time you add a new post. You can also categorize your posts with tags and categories, and those can help your readers find related content.
