After changing theme, my blog is squashed
-
Hi,
Having just changed themes from Ryu to Twenty Fourteen, my blog appears squashed to the left side and a grey area has appeared where the “Customize” sidebar was in the test page.
Is this just teething problems or is there something I need to do.
BestThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s how Twenty Fourteen theme is designed to be as you can see in the official Twenty Fourteen theme demo page.
So you don;t have to do anything. Just switch to another theme if you don’t like the default theme design.

Dear Chaitanyamsv,
I am afraid that it is not completely correct.
I have another site using the same theme :
http://pulpmetalmagazine.com/
As you can see, it takes up the whole screen on the computer with no grey on the side.
When I changed from a .wordpress.com to a .com
There was a similar problem, that a very helpful WordPress member helped me to fix. If you could please do the same, it would be very much appreciated or I will have to post about the problem again.
Best

Hi,
In your Dashboard, go to Appearance > Widgets and remove all the widgets in your Content Sidebar.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#removing-widgetsHope that helps!
-
To be clear, the Primary Sidebar is the left sidebar so don’t remove your widgets from there. The Content Sidebar is the right sidebar and that’s the one you want to remove the widgets from. The widget that you want to remove is a Links widget, I believe.

Hi,
Nope, I do not want to remove any widgets or sidebars.
The problem is that I changed to same theme as my other side (Twenty Fourteen) and the page on http://paranoidvoice.wordpress.com/ appears squashed to the right side and does not fill the screen with a strip of grey down the left side on my monitor, which doesn’t appear on my other site with the same theme : http://pulpmetalmagazine.com/Basically, I have two sites using exactly the same theme,. One fills the screen. The other does not. Would clearing cookies or cache or whatnot have any effect?

I might be seeing your site differently from what you are seeing depending on what your screen resolution is.
This is what I see on my computer:
http://snag.gy/dMu2S.jpg
http://snag.gy/US9lr.jpgThe main difference I see between the two screenshots is the Content Sidebar on the right that says Links.
Is this the same as what you are seeing?
If it’s not the same, can you post a screenshot of what exactly you are seeing?
You can follow the instructions here to make a screenshot:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/You can also try following the instructions in this document to rule out any browser specific issues:

At a similar resolution, here is what I see for both the sites:
http://snag.gy/P5bvp.jpg
http://snag.gy/gBc81.jpgBoth sites have the same strip on the right hand side, except for in pulpmetalmagazine.com, the strip is black, while in paranoidvoice.wordpress.com, the strip is gray.
In your Dashboard, go to Appearance > Background, and under Display Options, change your Background Color from the default gray to black. That should change the gray strip to a black one similar to the one you have on pulpmetalmagazine.com.

I have asked a friend to look at it and he sees the full screen.
I have cleared cookies etc etc. -
I have found the problem, Honeysilvas.
It was connected to sizing. Simple, really. Doh!
Thank you for your help and come and visit Pulp Metal Magazine.
