After Domain Transfer Cannot Acess website
-
I transferred my domain to WordPress, but I have not been able to access it online. It simply isn’t there. I just get this message:
“404. That’s an error.
The requested URL
/was not found on this server. That’s all we know.“So, right now I am paying WordPress for a site and for the domain and cannot see the site online at all. I have tried to read various help topics and tried to figure it out, but I am at a loss. Things don’t make sense to me, and UI need help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’ve reviewed your account and noticed that both reformedbaptistblog.org and reformedbaptistblog.net have been successfully transferred to WordPress.com as standalone domains.
To get them to display your WordPress.com site, you’ll just need to connect them to it. Here’s how you can do that:
- Go to your Domains Management page.
- Here, you should see all your domains. Next to the domain you want to connect, click on the Point to WordPress.com button.
- Then select the Connect to Existing Site option.
Once you’ve completed these steps, your domains will be connected to your WordPress.com site.
Please note that your site will have three domains attached to it. To select the one you want as primary, you can follow this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/
Once you have set a domain as primary, the other ones will automatically redirect to it.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.

Should I not already have been able to see the primary site online? Should I not already be able to see http://www.reformedbaptistblog.com/ online? As far as I can see, it is set as the primary site, but right now I can’t even see that one. I just get the aforementioned error message.
I will follow the instructions you have given regarding the other two sites, but I’m wondering if it will work if I can’t seem to get the primary site itself online.

I just followed your instructions for the primary site (a procedure I had already done for that site before) but, when I click the Point to WordPress.com button, it just takes me back to the page for that domain, where I see this message “Transfer successful! To make this domain work with your WordPress.com site you need to point it to WordPress.com.” So, I’m told to poin it to WordPress.com, so I do that, only to once again get a message telling me to do it. It’s like it is stuck in a sort of loop. Meanwhile, the site is not online.
By the way, I’ve now clicked the button to tell the other two sites to point to WordPress as well, and I see the same problem.
-
By the way, on this page https://wordpress.com/settings/general/reformedbaptistblog.com I see this message “Jetpack is unable to connect to your domain because your domain’s DNS records aren’t pointing to your site.”
When I click the “Learn How to Fix” link, it takes me here https://wordpress.com/support/resolve-jetpack-errors/#domain-s-dns-records
However, it seems that the instructions on that page have already been correctly followed. I remain perplexed and with no website online.
-
I should also point out that, although I thought I had set the reformedbaptistblog.com site as the primary site (which is what I certainly want) I cannot currently see how to confirm that.

Hi @kethroop, thanks for all of this. I think I see what caused the issue. Somehow your old A records from Google overwrote ours. I’ve removed them and given that a moment to update. The domain is now working for me; those changes should propagate to you soon, too.
Thanks for your patience!
