After guided transfer, posts still on wordpress.com

  On January 22, my blog was moved to bluehost via paid guided transfer. Since then, the admin url I was told to use (cookingmadly.com/wp-admin) redirects to cookingmadly.wordpress.com, all photo uploads and posts go to be hosted at wordpress.com, and I can’t add new themes or understand why while the files were transfered, the new site seems to be mostly ignored.

  Hi there,

  The final step for migrating your site is to change the nameservers for your domain to point to your new hosting account. You will need to log in to your domain’s registrar and change your nameservers away from WordPress.com’s and towards your new nameservers with Bluehost. Once you do your WordPress.com site will no longer come up and instead your new WordPress.org site will!

  Thanks, I got everything moved over now. One odd problem I had with my first ‘new’ post today is that when I post a link on Facebook, it doesn’t bring up any photos to include with the link. Any idea why that might happen? I’ve done everything else the same as always.

  Hi there,

  I couldn’t actually tell you. First issue being that Facebook is constantly changing their coding on what does and does not pull from third party sources, so it honestly could be ANYTHING causing the problem. But also because with your site now being on a WordPress.org self-hosted site, there isn’t anything which I can see, so I couldn’t begin to guess what is going sideways!

  You may want to check out the support forums for WordPress.org right here:

  And then there is also a random tool that Facebook provides to developers called their Link Debugger (or it used to be, they may have changed the name). It can clear their cache of information on a link that has been posted and sometimes allows for pictures to be re-pulled correctly. You may want to give it a shot! You can find that here:

  Thanks, the answer was apparently to REMOVE the addons which claim to fix that problem. Everything is working great now.
