After install Really Simple SSL, my website is missing

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi, All,

I started a website with Elementor Starter Site. After I installed and activated Really Simple SSL, I logged out and then couldn’t log in anymore as the website’s administrator, when I tried at mywebsite.com/wp-admin/.

If I go to just Workpress.com, I still can log in with my administrator user name, however, there is NO website under me anymore.

If I understand correctly, after I installed SSL, the URL was changed to https:// from http://, so the link between the administrator and the website was broken.

One interesting thing is, I also have an editor name working on this website, which I still can log in at mywebsite.com/wp-admin/, and I can see all my works are still there.

It seems the website only kicked out the administrator, but not the editor, after SSL was activated.

Please gurus, enlighten me on how to fix it! A million thank you!!!

  • Hi there,

I do not see any sites under your @sbdoo115 WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.

Is it possible you created your site under a different login?  Is it the case that you are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

    Hi, Jerry,

    The URL is https://adciconstruction.com/

I was working in WordPress under login name of @sbdoo115, after I installed and activated Really Simple SSL, I logged out and couldn’t log in anymore under https://adciconstruction.com/wp-admin/, and I still can log in just under wordpress.com, which shows that I haven’t created any website.

Thank you for your further help!

  • Hi there,

Looks like the domain was connected to your @sbdoo115 account via Jetpack, but now is receiving a communications error when I checked debug:

    https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/?url=https://adciconstruction.com/

Which most likely indicates that Jetpack is no longer connected. Looks like Jetpack was disconnected 6 days ago.

I would try reconnecting Jetpack following the instructions here:

    Homepage

If you continue to have issues, I would reach out to the Jetpack team here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/

    Hope that helps.

    Hi, Darnell,

    Thank you for your info!

However, I still have problems following the instructions you provided. Since now I can only log in with my editor account, I don’t have access to to settings, Jetpack manage, plugins, etc.

    Please provide further assistance!

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

It sounds like the SSL plugin you installed is causing connection issues with the Jetpack plugin on your site, based on what you have described so far. Please ote that this is the support forum for WordPress.com sites, and we do not use plugins to add SSL to the domain on sites we host directly. Because of this we would not be able to help with your issue since we use a different method to provide SSL.

Can you please report this issue to Jetpack support directly by asking here? Thanks!
