After last android app update, Dec 6th, photos upload too large

  After I updated my android WP app on December 6th, the photos I uploaded would come in full size 2000×1275 (ish), not the smaller 500×399 (ish) size I have enjoyed for the past year. Was this part of the update? How do I return it to the previous upload size WITHOUT having to resize each of them via my computer ?
  I have also tried to use the settings – media – Change maximim width of photos. It does not work!! Please help, many of my photos are skewed because of the odd large sizes. Thank you!!!
