After migration: No trailing slash after domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a WordPress.com Commerce subscription and have decided to go self-hosted. (No shade on WordPress.com: Sales just haven’t justified the cost.)

I migrated using the All-in-One WP Migration & Backup plugin, which mostly works fine. At the end of the process, it tells me to update Permalinks twice, which I did. I can use the admin interface just fine.

But when looking at the site itself, my migrated, self-hosted site now lacks a trailing slash at the end of the domain. So instead of “https://example.com/cart”, I get “https://example.comcart”. This breaks all images and links.

In my experimentation I noticed that certain administrative changes don’t “stick”. For example, if I change the Permalink structure and save it, the resulting page shows the old Permalink structure. The same goes for adding a slash at the end of the WordPress Address and Site Address in Settings -> General.

I suspect one of the plugins bundled with the Commerce subscription is causing the problem by forcing URL rewrites. I’ve tried:

    • Disabling all plugins, changing permalinks. Still broken (although permalinks stuck)
    • Re-enabling only WooCommerce, changing permalinks. Permalink changes for the site stuck, those for WooComerce didn’t. URLs still broken.
    • Checking WordPress Address and Site Address texts in wp_options in the DB. These have trailing slashes, although they don’t in the admin interface (see above).
    • Lots of monkeying around on the server with Apache, notably the .htaccess file and wp-config.php. (Although I’m not an expert at either.)

    Help would be appreciated. Thanks!
