after the last update my followers have vanished

after the last update my list of followers (pitifully few) vanished
    Blog url: http://blueantlerstudio.wordpress.com/

  • It looks like the few who were there unsubscribed themselves.

That would be really sad but I personally know three of them and they did not unsubscribe themselves. Any other thoughts?

  • No other thoughts, there is no way for an account to be unsubscribed unless they unsubscribe themselves. It’s just not possible any other way.

Wow they all decided to unsubsccribe simultaneously – is that documented somewhere that I can view? It’s pretty hard to believe that in this age of technology anyone would make such a definitive (and rather condescending) statement to a technical question. I would suggest there is another answer to this dilemma.

  • I’ve been looking through things, and there just is no way for them to be automatically lost like that. I suppose we could lose the Subscriptions table, but that would mean that every blog on WordPress.com would lose their subscribers, which is not the case here.

Granted, I suppose we can’t rule-out ghosts in the system, but I can’t seem to find any indication of that, much less how it could have happened.

I’d recommend asking them to resubscribe, and I’m sorry for any trouble this may have caused.

Thank you maxmanx for checking around. The contact info for the lost followers is no longer available on my site, so other than the ones I know personally I have no way of contacting them. Is there a way other than through my site stats to find my subscribers?

  • Unfortunately, no. I recommend just sticking with the folks you know, then make a courtesy “please resubscribe” post on your blog.

It is entirely possible that the unsubscribed individual whom you don’t know merely chose to subscribe via a third-party method.

Ok, I posted a new post and my followers were notified, which I assume means they have not unsubscribed my blog. So the question is where do I find them on my dashboard? Up until the last update, I could view them through my – site stats/subscribers. However now no one is listed under subscribers (even though I have established that I do have followers). My search of the internet for answers indicates that followers are found in – site stats/my followers. What’s up? Why do I not see “my followers” only subscribers (which is empty even though I do have current followers)

  • That is where they should be listed. Perhaps they are subscribed through a third-party.

    Were the emails from WordPress.com?

Is there anyway for me to find out who the third-party might be? And why were they listed there before but not now?

  • Well, the email address that the subscription emails are coming from should tell us.

Which email address are they coming from?
