Age Restriction
-
Hello,
This isn’t about my websites, a friend is asking.
So, a friend of mine has been writing sex articles for a 18+ magazine for a while, and she’s now wanting to do a blog in her spare time – from reviews to experiences and such.
And she’s quite… Explicit.
She’s asking whether or not there is a way of putting a page up asking whether the user is 18+ or not, just because that way no one can scream at her.
She’s been harassed in the past due to children and teens getting onto her stuff and reading her work, even though it was all labeled as 18+.
So, if there is a way, that would be awesome, if not we’ll just have to find a way around it because she likes wordpress.com and she doesn’t really want to go elsewhere :) -
I presume you’ve read this support doc about mature content.
And obviously you could set a static front page as the first port-of-call to the site displaying an “over 18 only” disclaimer.

Yeah, I know all that. Which I’ve notified her about but she’s looking to see if a pop up page can be added to clarify they know it’s 18+.
Thanks :) -
That could easily be done with a WordPress.org site and I’ve seen them (not that I frequent such places……) on other blogging platforms but I really don’t know if it can be done here at WordPress.com. I’ve put modlook into the tag box for staff to respond to you in due course (but considering the time/date don’t expect an immediate response).

Yeah, I’ve seen them. I’ve built sites on other platforms and done the 18+ pop up but I’ve never had the need to do it on wordpress.com.
She’s adamant that she wants to be here and not on org but it may be the only way.Luckily, she doesn’t want to start until the new year so her blog is on private.
Thanks for trying to help :)

Hi there!
No it can’t be done, there isn’t a way of adding an 18+ pop up.
You may as the @themagicrobot suggested add a message to her front page in a form of text widget or inside the main content itself.
Cheers! -
