Age Verification widget/plugin

My website will be for our brewery and we need to have an age verification page, prior to coming into the site.
I found one on the .org site named ageverify. is there anything like this available on the .com site?

Do you have any themes with this feature built in already?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only thing WPcom can offer is a static front page to your site where you can place a notice like you are describing (You must be 18 years or older to use this site), and that contains a link to the rest of the site.

There is no capability to enter your date of birth to enter a site.

thank you justjennifer. I am extremely new to this.
So, can I essentially have two static pages? A home page, then the standard front page for the site with the other pages linked under it?

One that would be my “Home page” with the disclaimer, and a link to the rest.
Then a static “front”, or top page for the site and have all the website stuff linked to it.

do you have any examples of this approach?
how would I set it up, the link you provided did not explain how to set up this top page and link it to the website very well.

Well, I can’t think of a specific site with this set up other than my dormant personal site, but I did a quick search on Google for site:wordpress.com brewery and it looks like there’s quite a few breweries here. Might be the “Beer Menus” https://en.support.wordpress.com/beermenus/

I don’t really have the time now to visit each site to see how they’ve set up, but at least you have a start.

Generally, you could set up a static page at https://magicvalleybrewing.com/ and creating a link on that page (maybe with text something along the lines of “I confirm I am 18 years of age or older”) clicking on that link could bring your site visitors to another static page or the blog page.

That’s all I can think of right now. Perhaps another forum volunteer can suggest something too.

    Best wishes and cheers!

    great information!
how can I figure out which theme was used to create one of them?
or can I import the theme once I find one and change it as required?
the one I am looking at that fits what we need is
    https://alpinebeerco.wordpress.com/

with that and a static home page I think we are set.
can the static home page be a page with in this web site, or do I need to have two different sites that are linked? can they both be on WPcom?

how can I figure out which theme was used to create one of them?

On every WordPress.com website there is a link in the footer to the theme being used. The site you linked to above is using Twenty Twelve (personally not one of my favorites) https://wordpress.com/themes/twentytwelve/

can I import the theme once I find one and change it as required

WordPress.com users can use any one of the 350+ available free or Premium themes found in the Theme Showcase, but cannot upload 3rd party themes.
    https://theme.wordpress.com/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

It is also possible to change the appearance of a theme with CSS for which you would need the Custom Design upgrade, which is part of the annually renewing Premium or Business Bundle upgrades. More on Custom Design and the Upgrades here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

If you need additional help on choosing a theme, I suggest you post a new thread directly in the Themes forum. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes

    First see my above answer

Generally, you could set up a static page at https://magicvalleybrewing.com/ and creating a link on that page (maybe with text something along the lines of “I confirm I am 18 years of age or older”) clicking on that link could bring your site visitors to another static page or the blog page.

You can have an unlimited number of Pages on a single WordPress.com website.

Additionally, I see that your site http://magicvalleybrewingdotcom.wordpress.com/ currently redirects to a parked domain page on a domain registrar’s website.

If you want to use your existing domain magicvalleybrewing.com here on WordPress.com you will need to have at least the Domain Mapping upgrade. You can read more about that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

    Best wishes from me.
