    I can not find anywhere to paste the google code to verify my site

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Do you mean Google Webmaster verification?

    If so, see: http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am trying to verify my website with Google. I have followed the directions with Google and WordPress. I don’t care if my blog is verified since I wont use that anyway. I am not finding a way to verify the website (not the blog).

  • Unknown's avatar

    I mean I AM trying to verify the website,not the blog. I have tried both but no luck.

    Thread is flagged for Staff attention.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Why is this post flagged?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Flagged, in this sense, means the same as tagged. I wasn’t able to resolve your issue, have asked for help from the support staff.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi @tnrcycle – As previously mentioned, have you followed the instructions here?

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

    If so, can you let me know where you’re getting stuck in the verification process?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’ve done everything in the instructions. When I click “Verify” on the Google end it does not find my site to verify. I did find where to upload the code Google sent me. I’m not good at computer terminology so I’m sorry if I am not explaining this clearly. And,thank you for your help.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Another thing I have found not working is my email address on the site. It has my personal email on the home page. I would like it to be (email visible only to moderators and staff) (thats what it has listed in my administrator area). This crap is way to complicated. A motorcycle transmission is a piece of cake compared to this.

    @tnrcycle
    Staff will return to help but I know you are upset about this and I’m chiming in to tell you from over 8 years of experience that it does not matter whether or not your verify ownership of the blog with Google. Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please. Start publishing posts (not pages) frequently and eventually your content will be indexed.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Thanks. I know it will get figured out eventually :)

    @timethief,

    …it does not matter whether or not your verify ownership of the blog with Google. Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines…

    I don’t doubt that what you say is true, but I believe the member won’t be able to access Webmaster Tools until verification is made.

    @tnrcycle

    I’ve done everything in the instructions. When I click “Verify” on the Google end it does not find my site to verify. I did find where to upload the code Google sent me.

    Just to confirm the steps:

    1. Visit the Webmaster Tools site here and login using your Google credentials:

      http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

    2. Enter your full site address (tnrcycle.wordpress.com for example)
    3. Click “Alternate Method” and select “HTML Tag” as shown in the screenshot here:

      http://d.pr/i/17ZR1

    4. Copy the entire code like this:

      <meta name="google-site-verification" content="BUNCH OF NUMBERS" />

    5. Paste that full code under Google Webmaster Tools here:

      https://tnrcycle.wordpress.com/wp-admin/tools.php

    6. Click “Save Changes” at WordPress.com
    7. From the Webmaster Tools page, click “Verify”

    I just went through the process on my side, and the site appeared to verify correctly. Please let me know if you have trouble going through those steps!

    Another thing I have found not working is my email address on the site. It has my personal email on the home page. I would like it to be (email visible only to moderators and staff) (thats what it has listed in my administrator area).

    Are you referring to the home page at WordPress.com? I’m not seeing an email address on your personal site here:

    http://tnrcycle.wordpress.com/

    If you would like an address like tnrcycle-at-tnrcycle.com, you would need to register and own the domain tnrcycle.com. Have you already purchased that domain elsewhere? If not, you will need to follow the instructions here to register it:

    Register a New Domain

    Then, I can help you setup an email address!

    I followed those directions to a “T” and it still will not verify the site.

    The email I am referring to is on my website,tnrcycle.com. It has my actual email showing but the link can not be used. It is non-functioning. And,I would rather it be (email visible only to moderators and staff) but it doesn’t have to be. If it would just work that would be fine.

    I’m not the smartest person in the world when it comes to this kind of stuff but I would think there would be more simple ways of doing this stuff.

    http://tnrcycle.com/ is NOT hosted by WordPress.COM and our support docs do NOT apply to that site.

    We are unable to provide support for any sites that are not hosted here at WordPress.COM, and our support docs do not apply to WordPress.ORG software installs.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums.

    Word Press is my site host. I used Word Press to build that site and the Word Press line is on top of my website when I am logged in as administrator. Yes,it is.

    Sorry but that’s not correct.

    Hi @tnrcycle!

    Word Press is my site host. I used Word Press to build that site and the Word Press line is on top of my website when I am logged in as administrator. Yes,it is.

    As Timethief mentioned, it looks like your site is hosted by SingleHop using WordPress.org software. That’s a bit different than WordPress.com. You can read a bit about the difference here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    This forum is geared towards WordPress.com blogs. I don’t have access to your site files for your WordPress.org site so I’m unable to provide much assistance. This forum will be better suited to your needs!

    I’ve never even heard of SingleHop. Is this like when an attorney advertises on tv but it may be another attorney that actually handles the case?
