A(HOST), CNAME, Points To Information – Editing DNS in Wix to Point Subdomain to WordPress Site
-
I would like to add a subdomain of my domain (purchased from Go Daddy and hosted on Wix) and point it to my blog at WordPress.
I am editing the DNS records in Wix, what do I put in for the A(HOST), CNAME, and Points To?
At the moment, I am using the free hosting for my new WordPress site, do I need to upgrade that in order to achieve what I’m trying to do?

Hi there,
For HOST you need to add what you want your subdomain to be called. That’s the word that will appear at the front of your domain. For POINTS TO you need to use your free WordPress.com address, so paradiseformankindoffers.wordpress.com
You will also need to purchase a plan on this side under My Site ->Plans. Then you can connect your domain via the domain mapping option at My Site ->Domains ->Add ->Map it

Kokkieh,
I notice that the Points To in Wix DNS requires an IP syntax. How can I retrieve that?

Are you adding a CNAME or an A record? For CNAME it shouldn’t require an IP.
If you can only add an A-record and need the IP, you’ll need to add two A records, both for the same subdomain, but pointing to these IPs:
192.0.78.24
192.0.78.25
But CNAME is the better option, so try to stick with that.
