Airport Express router blocking all sites under wordpress.com
-
I came to realise that I am unable to reach any website under wordpress.com, when navigatingmunder my router.
I first thought that my problems were due to my provider, but after intensive checking, it looks like it’s only my router blocking these sites. If I connect through my Vodafone 4G card I never have any problem. I have an Apple Airport Express router and never have any navigation problem otherwise. Any idea as to what could be causing this block? -
Firstly, try switching off the device you are using as it could be a synchronisation issue.
Have you tried doing a router reset? You should have either a button or a small pin hole. Use a paper clip or pin to push and reset it. Or switch the router off for a few minutes.
Some ISPs are now advising people to switch routers off for 30 minutes. If it persists you may be in a black hole situation known to happen with express routers. Your ISP can unblock it.

Not sure. It happens. I had a similar issue myself with a certain website. My ISP had to amend the settings.
I would recommend you do a deep virus scan and clean cookies etc…A well maintained machine is a better machine.

Hi there,
Who is your Internet Service Provider? Many WordPress.com employees use Airport (including myself) and I have never had any issues with the router – it’s the extreme version, but I would gather that it may be an ISP issue. Have you ever been able to navigate WordPress.com sites with this router?

Really I don’t see what cookies have to do with this issue. Of course cleaning up and running an virus scan idoes no harm, but this issue is totally independent from my platforms. It happens on my Mac, as well as on my iPad and on my Android phone, every time I navigate through my wifi under Airport Express. My provider first thought my public IP blacklisted. So he gave me a new IP, but didn’t solve the problem. They say they can reach wordpress.com from their machines no problem. I don’t know if I can set my router to use my 4G card’s connection. It’s a bit tricky but I must try this out It would be the definitive proof.

Hi,
I didn’t realise. You never mentioned all that before.
As for cookies, you’d be surprised. If a new ip didn’t fix the issue then it could be an issue between wordpress and the router. Seeing as you can’t access WordPress through router on more than one.
Have you done a total factory reset on router?
Have you tried disconnecting your Mac from router and web and then trying to connect via router on other devices?
Then try disconnecting other devices apart from Mac.It’s trial and error at this stage. I’m not sure how much a change of ip can bypass. Otherwise, try another router perhaps?
