Akismet & Comments

    I have searched the previous forum posts on this topic and tried the suggestions given (that weren’t overly technical), but nothing seems to solve my problem, which is that none of my comments will show up when I enter them on my own blog.
    I always have to go to Akismet to despam my own comments.
    I have never placed links in my comments, I have no unallowable words, I have only attempted one comment on a friend’s site (today, which also didn’t show up, but I don’t know his comment settings), and yet I have been consistently marked as spam since I started posting regularly about a month ago.

    Please help!

    I would send a feedback in to staff to let them know. They may be able to help you with it.

    Please point to specific comments that you had to remark as well. That way staff can see what is occuring.

    Since the very first time friends left me comments and I attempted to reply, I have had to remark every comment that I have posted on my blog as not spam, but I have not had Akismet block even one comment left by anyone else (except for legitimate spam, for which it has worked perfectly). The fact that others have had no trouble commenting is the reason it took me a month to finally seek help. I was hoping to ‘teach’ Akismet that I am not a spammer, but no luck.

    I have posted a total of ten comments on my site, and, as stated, all were held as spam by Akismet. Do you want links to the comments?

    If it helps, I am running Firefox 1.5.0.10, and it is set to remember me.

    Oh, one other thing. I’m in Japan and so my e-mail address has “.or.jp” in it. Might that be a problem?

    Do me a favor. You’ve had two replies to your post. Two people went out of their way and took the time to answer your question. Please read what they wrote. I know you didn’t because you ask if you want links to the comments when I stated that you needed to do this.

    Send in a feedback stating that your comments are being marked as spam. Please point to specific comments that you had to change to not being spam.

    Sorry, sorry.

    I’m not a jerk, just an idiot. I did read the replies, for which I am very grateful. I simply thought I was in the right place for feedback, and, seeing moderator by your name, drmike, I assumed you were the staff to whom I was supposed to send feedback. I asked about the links because I was trying to clarify the statement “Please point to…” as I wasn’t initially clear on your meaning (I’m finishing my fourth day of Influenza A aka. bird flu, so my brain isn’t making connections at its regular rate. You don’t want to know how long this is taking me to type in order to sound lucid.).

    Anyways, thank you again, and an extra thank you for spelling out what I should do very clearly. I needed it & followed your directions. I’ll mark this resolved.
