  Hi I have a few self hosted websites. I sign up for an API key for Akismet and it asks me to connect to wordpress.com and enter an email address. I am running out of email addresses, of course I can make a new one but I am wondering whether I actually need to?

  Will akismet still work on a new site if I use a wordpress.com site that is already linked to a different website?

  You just need to register at WP.com to get the API key. Then it will work on any site you want which you also administer with that email address. That’s the key; it has to go with the email address.

  Thanks so much. I was confused thinking I had to create a new wordpress.com for each new self hosted website.
