Akismet and Non WordPress User Comments

    So I have a question… I noticed that Akismet has blocked 55 comments since I’ve had my blog… Now I never had a “legitimate” comment until a few days go… At least I think it’s legitimate. Anyways, my question is… Are comments only allowed by other wordpress users or can anyone from anywhere comment me? If the case is that only fellow wordpressers can comment than I don’t know why I have a wordpress.

    Provided the commenters have Open-ID they do not need to have wordpress.com blogs to comment on your posts. It’s the same in reverse on blogsopt blogs.

    We all have the option to either choose to have spam deleted or not deleted from old posts here > Settings > Discussion
    Comment Moderation
    Comment Moderation ___ Don’t discard spam on old posts

    We do not have the option of examining the most harmful of all spam which is why programmers created spam filters in the first place. The most harmful of all spam is culled before it gets to us because it has the potential of can bringing down the whole worpress.com site.
