  How can I read spam to determine if it’s really spam?

  same here! I logged on and on my dashboard it said that I had 15 spam comments and I went to my comments and tried retrieving it but no luck. is there anyway I can moderate them (the prior comments) prior to be detected as spam? I already changed it on my settings.
