"Akismet cleared this comment"

I’ve got a question about an Akismet string (→ link)

    Akismet cleared this comment.

Can someone explain me what exactly Akismet does when it “clears a comment” or what this means? Is it deleting the comment or releasing it from the spam|moderation queue? Couldn’t find anything specific via Google search or in the Akismet support pages.

    Cheers

  • @iqatrophie “Akismet cleared this comment” means that the comment was checked and not determined to be spam.

    Thanks Christopher. :)

Since it’s the complete opposite of what “geekinthegirl” (post obviously removed) said, and to be absolutely sure, “clearing a comment” means, Akismet checked the comment, thinks it’s not spam and “releases”/”frees”/”unlocks” the comment for everyone to see?

Yes. When Akismet marks a comment as spam, it will say “Akismet caught this comment as spam,” and when a comment is *not* spam, it will say “Akismet cleared this comment.”

You can trust me; I work on Akismet every day. :-)

I’ll trust you then. :) Had no idea you’re working on Akismet. Thanks again for re-confirming.

    Topic is *resolved*.
