Akismet: Fatal Error when trying to enter API Key

  I have a wordpress blog that’s hosted elsewhere so I signed up on WordPress, got my API key, went to activate it via the Akismet instructions, and got the following:

  Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_cache_get() in /vservers/sanderis/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/akismet.php on line 263

  Please advise!
