Akismet HAM
-
I need help understanding akismet HAM.
From what I do understand. Spam = bad comments; HAM = legitimate comments.
So when I go to my dashboard, click on Akismet > All time > it tells me I have 39 Spam, and 69 HAM.
I only have 1 message in my comments section and it is marked as spam.
So if HAM is supposed to be legitimate comments, where are they? Why don’t I see anything in my comments section or attached to posts?
Where are these supposed 69 legitimate comments that people have left for me?Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There was a bug that we fixed recently that had been incorrectly showing higher than expected ham counts; it looks like there might still be a problem. I’ll be investigating, and I’ll get back to you.

Am I correct in my understanding of Spam Vs. Ham?
If the counts were in fact correct, I should have 69 comments visible in my comment section?
Thank you for your assistance! -
Up to 73 Total HAM and still no comments to show.
Can anyone help clarify any of this for me? -
A separate bug is that Ham stats will continue to show spam comments that we missed but you later marked as spam. Could that be the case?

I have only ever seen 4 messages in my comments, and they were all tagged as Spam. So all I did was delete them.
I have never marked anything as spam either. (mainly because I have never had any comments.)
These are my counts TYD :
44 total spam
78 total ham
If the messages are actually spam.. then so be it.
But its very frustrating to see the counter constantly ticking higher and higher with no comments to be seen and no way to access these mysterious messages.
Is there anyway to reset these stats to get a fresh start? I would very much like a chance to determine for myself what is spam and delete the messages myself. -
It looks like Akismet also filters any updates you make to posts as well and classes these as HAM. This is very disconcerting until you understand it.
I have just spent time looking for missing emails, trawling through email SPAM filters, concerned that people looking to join our organisation had been missed. It turns out that my post-publication Post edits have been included in the HAM figure. This seems mad to me and it certainly should be made clearer in the notes.

I had thought maybe it had to do with changes that I had made, but my HAM stats increase regardless of if I edit, post or do nothing besides log in.
I have reserved myself to just accept that the HAM stats are completely fictitious and serve no real purpose.
