Akismet holding comments of previously approved readers
-
Akismet has taken to occasionally holding for moderation the comments of people I have previously approved. I’ve not changed my settings, which are set to hold/block comments that contain links or are from people not previously approved.
Two comments were held for moderation this afternoon, both from previously approved readers. Their emails, URLs, and IPs all matched those previously approved.
These comments were follow-up remarks in an ongoing discussion, so in essence they were cut off in the middle of a conversation.
If this is something I need to refer directly to Akismet, please supply the address for doing so.

Do people have to register with Akismet before they can post a comment?
I have people from facebook/Twitter complaining they cannot leave a comment- I’m only getting other WP Akismet users’ comments?? -
No registration with Akismet is required for anyone. It’s just the background computerized function that protects you from spam. The approval I mentioned is my personal approval. Once I’ve approved someone to comment, they can comment freely from then on.
It all depends on what comment settings you choose for your blog under Dashboard > Settings > Discussion. You may have checked the setting that requires commenters to be “registered and logged in” (which means with either WordPress or Gravitar).
