Akismet is not catching spam coming in through my contact form

  All of a sudden, my contact form (called “Speaker Request Form”) is generating spam daily – it would seem the spam filters WordPress uses are not catching this form of spam. Please let me know what we can do to fix this.

  Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately this can happen, and we are always looking at ways to prevent this. Here are ways to control the unwanted comment spam:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/

  I’d particularly look into the comment blacklist to automatically mark incoming spam.

  Unfortunately none of the listed helps addresses my particular situation. The spammers are adding a name and what looks like a valid email address so I get several per day. I am going to have to take the form down because of this – which is a real bummer because basically that is a WordPress tool I can’t use due to the volume of spam.

  If the spammers are using a particular word, you can always blacklist that word. In addition blacklisting the IP addresses are always helpful as well.

  However, if the form is not a necessity and the spam is a concern, then taking it down would be a good option.
