Akismet problems

    Im a wordpress newbie and im having some problems getting akismet to run.

    I’ve tried to turn on akismet but it said i need to insert a wordpress API key, so i signed up for a wordpress account and navigated to my profile to find the API key, i then copied and pasted the key into the akismet API validation but it says the key is invalid.

    I am obviously doing something wrong but i dont know what.

    Please can anyone with a bit of knowledge point out what im doing wrong.

    Solution: Get with your host as either they’ve removed the ability to have PHP call an outside URL or they’ve closed off port 80 for outbound connections.

    Then you will have to contact staff for instructions
