  I still have a question about akismet. Yesterday it said it had protected my blog from 4 spam comments, Yet none were in my Spam que. I was told to go to the “Discussion” settings and check “Do not Delete Spam Comments on Older Post” and then click save changes, which, I did.
  Today, It says it has protected me from 2 more, or a total of 6 Spam comments, and still there are none for me to view?

  For obscure technical reasons, the spam count on WordPress.com blogs is probabilistic. In the long term it is accurate, but at the micro level it isn’t – sometimes it will increment by one or two when there is no spam to view.

  In short, the count isn’t entirely accurate on WordPress.com blogs. But it’s the count that’s wrong, not comments going astray.

  This is specific to WordPress.com, self-hosted blogs don’t work that way.
