Akismet Spam – catching approved comments
-
For some reason, my Akismet filter is catching comments by people who I’ve previously approved for commenting without moderation. They are using the same logins as before, so they should be able to post directly, without me approving their comment and definitely w/o it going to akismet.
Help!

Not necessarily. Best bet would be to send in a feedback and specifially point at comments that got caught by Akismet. You are marking them as not being spam, right? For reference you may want to search the forums for Akismet as this has already been discussed.

No. And if you got 800 spam a day like me you wouldn’t want that power either. Just work with it and you’ll save yourself a lot of headaches in the future, trust me on this.

I don’t get 800 spam a day – every single comment that akismet has caught on my blog has been valid. This is just really annoying.

Guys got it easy. When you start blocking upwards of 2 million a day at the routers….
Have you done what’s been suggested? I do hope at least you’re marking them as “Not Spam” and sending them in? That’s the only way th3e system is going to learn. If you’re not doing that, then you’re actively making the issue worse.

It didn’t take long for my blog to begin getting spammed with tons of screen long spam from insurance companies, etc. To date, that blog has almost half the total number of comments being spam. And they arrive in heeps… you’ll be glad you don’t get it when it gets bad! (I’m talking about a blog that is not linked to my name. My first blog.)
