  What is the Alert Panel for, and how can I hide it if I don’t use it?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Are you referring to the area on the Admin side of your blog where Staff posts Alerts and updates? If not please post the URL to a screenshot so we know what you are referring to.

  If you are referring to notsoemptynest.wordpress.com, please note that the alert panel is an optional feature of the theme Vigilance:
  http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/new-theme-vigilance/

  To deactivate it, simply go to Appearance > Themes > Theme Options > Alert Box > Alert Box On/Off Switch

  So that Vigilance alert feature is like a sticky post in other theme templates?

  @maidiebike: Sort of. Sticky posts are also available in Vigilance. But an alert box has no date and unlike a sticky post that dissapears when you click on “Older Entries” (for example, the next 5 or 10 posts from your homepage), the alert box still shows.

  I just noticed an article on Panos’ website and other themes having a similar feature are iNove, Modularity Lite, Titan and Inuit Types:

  Great catch! It’s along time since I have used Vigilance so I had forgotten it had that feature.
