ALEXA RATING

  • Unknown's avatar

When my blog was just ‘spunkybong. wordpress.com’, it used to have a respectable ALEXA rating. The moment I switched to my paid dot com address ‘spunkybong.com’, the ALEXA rating disappeared.

ALEXA is probably treating my blog as something new.

Can you help in some way?

    Hi there,

I’m afraid there isn’t anything which we can do. You are correct that whenever you switch names for your site, search engines (as well as social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter) have no way of really knowing that it is the same site. As such, you have to start all over again.

The good news is that our system dynamically updates all of your links from spunkybong.wordpress.com to spunkybong.com, so you don’t have to go through and update them. As long as you have let anyone else know about this update so that hopefully they will make the same updates (and even if they don’t, the links will still go to the same place), the search engines will generally find your blog much more quickly and so it will start climbing much faster than it ever did in the first place, back to where it was before.

Nonetheless, I’m sorry for the inconvenience this causes!
