align image to the far right?
-
Hi everyone,
as i am using my worpress blog as a static website appearence at the moment i am using just one column page (No sidebar) But i am having problems trying to align an image/link and text the the right hand side of my ‘about’ page… I have already aligned it right but i think it is because my theme is leaving room for a sidebar?
I would like to have that image and text around the grey border to be aligned right next to the edge of where the black area meets the grey…Any help would be amazing!
Thanks :)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you download a photo you get the choice of left/centre/right and the size, is that not coming up for you.
-
yeah iv done that and i have already set it to align right. which technically it its.. just not the edge of the page.?
-
there is an edge , but theres also a limit to how far it will go to the edge.
One of the experts will maybe come up with something.

Choosing to eliminate the sidebar display does not eliminate the space the sidebar occupies as we cannot edit themes and templates. All blogs using the same theme are also using the same underlying template and only Staff can access those files and edit. Every edit they make affects all blogs with the same theme. The way we align images is found in this support entry. When you use the icons there you have reached the full extent of what you can do on this appearance issue. -
One way to do it is switch the editor to HTML and enclose the image in this code:
<div style="margin-right:-208px;margin-top:-100px;">[caption id=ETC ETC ETC[/caption]</div>
Change the margin-right and margin-top numbers till the image falls exactly where you want it.But if you don’t add anything below the two lines of text you’ve got on the page, the result will be very unbalanced. Why not place the image below the text, with the caption next to instead of below the image?
-
yeah that sounds a better way but i didnt know how to move where the caption went??? i just uploaded it and it didnt give an option where to put the caption? and yes i am planning on ‘filling’ the page at a later stage im just working on the layout side of things at the moment, will that effect this?
-
There’s no direct option to place the caption next to the image, but you can handcraft it via coding. Want me to show you now? (I’d rather wait till I see the rest of the content of the page.)
-
Thanks so much on the earlier hint! worked a treat, u rock!
And yeah thats fine then, ill wait till iv worked out the content until i worry about the position of the captions. Thanks so much for all your help!Dave :)
-
You’re welcome. You understand that the effect is very lopsided now, but if you add more content to the page, maybe you won’t even need to modify the image+caption box.
By the way, if you wish you can also take advantage of the coding I already suggested to stretch the text to the left as well:
<div style="margin-left:-126px;"> COMPLETE TEXT HERE </div>(-126px will align the beginning of the text with the beginning of your Home tab.)
And better put the image code before, not after, the text.

Hi panaghiotisadam,
iv got the content together but seems to be messing all the layout now… can adjust the picture and caption etc correctly, but the main body text overlaps heavily especialy overlaps the botttom of the page and the wordpress footer etc… any thoughts?
-
Iv put the text in as it is, so that it is not overlapping, however if i move the item to the right of the page to the top right, that is when the text all mess’s up.
-
You mean if you try to reposition the image by changing its top margin number. As I said, you need to put the image before the text:
<div style="margin-right:-199px;margin-top:-80px;">IMAGE CODE HERE</div><div style="margin-left:-126px;"> TEXT HERE </div>Start with this and let me know what other adjustments you’d like (if any).
