Aligning images side by side

  How do I align images side by side? I am sooo frustrated with WordPress when it comes to formatting and aligning pictures, especially side by side. I’ve been using this site for almost two years and this problem just doesn’t seem to get any easier – or better.

  To align two images side by side, you set the alignment of the first one to left and the alignment of the second one to right.
  To align more than two images side by side, you set the alignment of all of them to left.
  In both cases you insert the images without any line or paragraph breaks between them, and in both cases you switch the editor to Text (= code) and format the paragraph that follows this way (to prevent unwanted text-wrap):

  TEXT HERE
  </p>

  Naturally the originals or the inserted versions have to be small enough to fit.

  Alternative: you can insert the images as a gallery.
