Aligning pictures on 1 line
-
I’m having so much trouble lining pictures up on my posts, I’m so confused!
I have inserted 4 images. Each are exactly the same size, are set to ‘none’ on alignment and have the same amount of spaces between them. The first 2 line up perfectly on 1 line. The next 2 however, are on different lines. I want them on the same line, so that 4 images are evenly spaced out, 2 to each line. I have no idea how to achieve this!
I seem to have similar problems to this all the time- I write a post and then it takes me hours to work out how to space images in it. Is there an easier way that this, surely?

Hi Laura,
Can you link to a post or page that demonstrates the alignment issues you’ve been having so I can take a look? Also, have you tried setting all the images to have the same alignment (i.e. all left rather than none)? This is what’s suggested on the image alignment support page.
Another option (although perhaps more useful when posting many images) is to use an image gallery, take a look and see if you think that might help.

Hi Hallluke,
Ok, here is my recent post…
http://bentley-design.co.uk/2014/12/10/military-inspiration/
The top 2 images are separate images, that I was able to fit onto 1 page.
The next 2 images, despite them originally being the same size, same alignment could not go on 1 line! In the end I cheated and photoshopped the 2 images into 1 so that I could get them next to each other- then placed that 1 image centrally. And notice how the 3 images at the bottom of the post are all to the left? Following your above suggestion- i tried making them a gallery which centralised them. Great- BUT- then the captions don’t show up. They appear when hovered over, but only the shorter ones. The longer caption gets cut off with a …
So, how can I create a gallery, which displays all captions clearly. (preferably all the time, not only with hover)
Thanks
Thanks for your reply.

I’m afraid galleries don’t work exactly the same as inserting images directly so you might find differences with the ways captions are displayed.
It’s hard to tell without seeing the original problems but it looks like your last image out of the four is slightly wider which might have been causing problems. I’ve also just clicked through as some of your images are links and they are really large. You should try to upload images only as large as they need to be displayed to save on space and make sure your site loads as quickly as possible.
For the final 3 images you have each image showing as 260 pixels wide plus 10px border on each side plus 40px of margin (320px per image). Three lots of this is 960px and your main content area is only 840px wide which is why they’re not fitting in. If you make the images narrower they should fit in, 220px not including borders or margins should do the trick!
