All blog emails are now bright yellow
-
All WordPress blogs I get by email (both from WordPress and from others) now appear a bright (and ugly) yellow with unclickable links and no photos. They also have code mixed in, making the posts impossible to read.
I’m using Windows Live Mail, Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3522.0110)
Can anyone suggest a fix?
Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The appearance of the blogs was totally normal until last week. I haven’t changed anything on my end. It’s only WordPress blogs. All others appear normally.

Could you please take a screenshot of an entire email in question and post it to your media library so I can take a look?

That appears to be an issue with your email client not properly rendering HTML emails from WordPress.com. I can’t really explain why it just started happening unless perhaps you changed a setting somewhere in Windows Live Mail.
This information may be helpful:
To read a message with full HTML formatting in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express:
Select View | Message in HTML from the menu.
If you switch to HTML frequently, you could also remember the keyboard shortcut and handily press Alt-Shift-H.

Thank you jackiedana. I don’t have the “Message in HTML” option in View but I did find out that to make sure that all incoming messages are displayed with HTML, I have to go to File > Options > Mail > Read, and then uncheck “Read all messages in plain text.”
That was already unchecked, so that was not the reason.
Strange that every other email comes in normally, with full HTML. It’s only WordPress blog emails.

When I click on any of the links in a WordPress email, I get this message:
No apps are installed to open this type of link (ttp). Look for an app in the Store.
Then, when I click on the Store link, it says:
There are no apps that support ttp.
-
I found this online:
TTP files are Uncommon Files primarily associated with TimeTraces Project (TwoLogs).
And this:
TTP file is a Atari TOS Executable With Parameters. TOS is the operating system of the Atari ST range of computers. TTP opened a dialog box where arguments could be added for the program on Atari TOS (“The Operating System”) System.
And this:
TTP file is a TextTransformer Project. The TextTransformer is a visual development environment for the analysis and remodelling of texts which is used as well by end-users as by professional software developers.

It sounds like your email client isn’t correctly parsing the HTML links in the emails, thinking the links start with ttp instead of http.
I’ve just sent you an email with four links to try. Could you let me know what happens when you receive the email, and if the links work properly then (and if it’s yellow or not)?

When you received the email, the links that were straight URLs like https://en.forums.wordpress.com/ worked. When I wrapped the same URL in HTML tags like Forums you weren’t able to view it.
That reinforces my suspicion that there’s something about Windows Live Mail or your settings that is preventing you from properly viewing HTML emails from WordPress.com email addresses, so it might help to add WordPress.com to your whitelist/safe senders list.
Try these steps to see if it helps:

Thank you. I’ve added wordpress.com and smtp2.dfw.wordpress.com to my safe senders list. I’ll let you know what happens when I get the next WordPress blog email.

You might also try *wordpress.com as the * is a wildcard in most software saying “anything here” + wordpress.com.
-
Unfortunately, it won’t let me do that. I tried *wordpress.com and WLM tells me it’s an invalid address.
