All categories not showing & showing in pull-down menu which I do NOT want.

    Okay, I’m just starting on creating a very large portfolio of published work (hope WordPress.com can accommodate all this content!)

    I have created several pages, and one blog entry.

    (1) It appears that one category automatically was created that fits my one blog entry except that that blog entry does not automatically display without having to click the pull down menu. I do NOT want this…as a writer, I need my clients to immediately see the categories so they can click on that category to see all my writing samples in that genre. (I hope this is not the fault of the template I chose because the first template I chose DID show both categories (not in a pull down menu) – though I later did delete one post.)

    (2) The other category “Travel Copy Writing” is listed in my Dashboard (and in my My Menu that I created) but it does NOT appear on my published page even though I keep trying to publish it. Why?

    Will someone please address these two related issues?

    Fixed the first issue…second category did not display because I had not assigned the right category to that particular blog posting–hence it did not come up on published site.

    Still need second question answered: Why do these categories show only under a pull-down menu? if this is a template issue I will have to find another template!

    From the Appearance -> Widgets section of your Dashboard, edit the widget in the sidebar area to the right and uncheck “Show as dropdown”

    Yep, I figured it out right before you posted…pays to play around awhile though I think the process of taking the time to write out my questions forces me to focus more on solving the problem more quickly!
