All images GONE

Would someone please help me get my header and background images back?

Was using Neat! theme, and uploaded my own banner image (background image was still default). Now I have no banner art whatsover (just a white patch) and the background gradient has turned into a dull solid slate-blue.

    Don’t know what’s missing.

    Thank you.

Oh, by the way, I’ve tried changing the theme to another, and then back to Neat!…no luck.

I’m seeing the same thing on your blog, so it isn’t an issue that can be solved by logging out and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

If you’ve already switched to something else and then back and it didn’t work, then contact support directly through the link in your Dashboard. This isn’t something the forum volunteers can help with (other than to give moral support).

I’m sorry, I posted my reply before seeing that you posted this in the CSS Customization forum. Do you have the CSS upgrade?

  • Unknown's avatar

@justjennifer, yes, I do have the upgrade, but I got it after these problems cropped up.

CSS overwrites existing uploads. You will have to upload your header via CSS and insert the URL for the header in the appropriate place.

I tried uploading it again and substituting the filename under the #header ID, but still no luck. I’m stumped; since I don’t know the site structure on WordPress’s server, I don’t know whether I’m pointing the CSS sheet in the right direction. Any way to walk me through this?

Using the Uploader is going to get you no joy. Upload. Copy the URL. Put that URL in the CSS.

I see…so there’s no way at all I can store my graphics on WordPress anymore? Nor is there any way I can simply restore to a default stylesheet (i.e. just go back to the way things were)?

You can store your graphics here. Use the Image Uploader from a Post to upload your header, not the custom header uploader. After it appears in your Media Library, you need to copy the URL of your image from the Image URL box and then paste that into the correct place in your style sheet.

I don’t think there’s a “reset” button for style sheets. But it might be possible, I think, to create a second blog and then choose Neat as your theme there, copy the style sheet and paste it into the CSS Editor of your first blog. (And then copy into Notepad as a txt file for safekeeping on your hard drive.)

Since I’m totally clueless where WordPress.com CSS is concerned, take my suggestion with a very large grain of salt.

Actually, I did save the original CSS code as a stylesheet file on my hard drive (GMTA!). Unfortunately, repasting that didn’t help, due no doubt to the “overwrite” problem mentioned above by raincoaster. Ah, well.

I’ll give the Media Library’s Image Uploader a try, thanx very much.
