All my behind the scenes fields are blank

  • Unknown's avatar

My entire site disappeared. Every field is blanked out. There is no dashboard. I get an error message they can’t link to reader subscriptions or such.

My email space is blank. It doesn’t look like a real dashboard.

It seems I still have access. I wasn’t logged out. But nothing is there.

It is even asking me to fill in the address I want for my blog. It used to be angelhaven.wordpress.com. I can’t sign out to see if it is still there.

Does anybody know what is going on?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, thank you anyhow. This isn’t a paid account, so I understand the paid accounts need to be prioritized. Or perhaps this is weekend staffing.

I can’t be the first person who has run into this problem. I will fill out the blank fields with my normal information and hope for the best. I’ve had this account for twelve years and rarely used it, but was fully aware it is there.

Maybe wordpress.com stripped out the accounts that aren’t used that often. Or perhaps it was hacked. All I know is it is gone. And I have other private, free wordpress.com sites that are rarely used. They have poetry written over many years. I am now worried about those sites too.

So if this happens to anybody else who wants an answer, I don’t know what happened. Mine cannot be the only account this has happened to.

Update. Cannot enter information into blank fields. Just an FYI for anyone else having this problem.

I figured out the answer! I needed to find my original email that wordpress sent me in 2007. I found that account and looked up the API key number that came with the account.

I went to this page, found by searching Google.
    https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

I entered the API key number and it allowed me to reset the password for the account.

Now, I used another browser and checked another WordPress blog because I wanted to be sure there weren’t problems. There was a problem. It asked me something about SMS verification (I think). I am checking all my other WordPress private blogs. I use them for journaling.

It may be WordPress has decided to verify older blogs that go unused for long periods of time. I still don’t know for sure. Hope my four posts help somebody else.

Always keep your information for your new WP site. Don’t delete the welcome email they send you. It has your API key number in it.
