All my comments and replies are NOT coming in the notification bell!

    Just yesterday I experienced a problem with my comments and replies (Not) showing up on the notification bell. Most of them show up on my blog post without me even realize later on. Can you guys at tech support fix the problem please??? I know I’m not the only one who is experiencing this issue.

    Any idea how long before this issue is going to get fixed? Comments are the lifeblood…

    Hi there,

    Just to clarify what’s happening here, are the comments missing from your notifications, or are they appearing in notifications, but not visible on your site?

    Do you see them if you go to My Site ->Site ->Comments?

    Please also provide a link to a post on your site where these comments are missing so we can take a look.

    Any idea how long before this issue is going to get fixed?


    @bookstooge    , there’s no way to say, as our developers will first need to figure out what’s causing this. In order for them to do that they need detailed information on what’s happening, so please answer the questions I’ve asked here so I can forward those details to them.

    The comments are visible on my blog (or on others blogs) and they show up in the My site: comments section, but they don’t show up in the notification bell area.

    Salonimore’s comment never showed up in my notification bell while Books, Teacups & Reviews comment did show up.

    Thank you for those details. I can see that notification isn’t appearing for your account, yes.

    We’ve had a few other reports of this, and our developers are investigating. We’ll update here as soon as we have more information.

    Meanwhile, you can enable email notifications for your comments at My Site ->Manage ->Settings ->Discussion. Please enable that, and let me know if you notice that those also don’t get sent for all comments.

    I actually already have that enabled and I am receiving emails when someone comments, on my blog. I have not enabled the “email me when new comments” on someone else’s blog however.

    Okay, so you’re getting email notifications for comments on your own site. That means only the WordPress.com notifications have a problem, not email as well.

    The email new comments setting for other people’s blogs are completely unrelated to notifications, but instead is part of WordPress.com subscriptions (following sites via email), so you don’t need to change anything there.

    For comments you leave on other people’s sites you should only ever get notifications if someone replies to your comment there, and in that case there’s no option to also receive notification by email – those notifications are in the notifications panel only.

    Following comments on a post will let you receive an email every time anyone leaves a comment on that post, not just when someone replies to your comments.

    Several other members of my blogging community are reporting on their blogs that they have lost all comments and reply notifications.

    On my blog, comments and replies made overnight (UK time) have not appeared in the notifications under the ‘bell’.

    I have had one since appear this morning, made about three hours ago from NZ.

    My blog is thecheesesellerswife.wordpress.com.

    Hi Kim,

    It’s a known issue and we’ve reported it to our developers. In the meantime, you can enable email notifications for new comments by going to My Site > Manage > Settings > Discussion.

    Unfortunately, any comments made from April 21st at 9AM UTC, until today at 2PM UTC will not ever reappear.
