all new incoming links disappearing
-
the incoming links section (on my stats page) used to work fine. but now the incoming links are appearing there for a day or less — and then disappearing. i know the whole thing is powered by a google search engine that might not recognize all incoming links, but the problem is that google IS recognizing them and they ARE appearing in my stats — but then wordpress (?) is allowing them to disappear.
the last incoming link on my page that has remained there is from june 2010. but i’ve been linked to lots of time since then.
and these aren’t just links to pages where i’ve posted comments that are disappearing (which seems to happen often). these are blogs where people have linked to my own posts within their text.
any ideas?

My incoming links on my dashboard haven’t worked since 2009. Perhaps another Volunteer has some help they can offer here.

Are the incoming links appearing but the box is empty? Or the box is not appearing at all? If it’s the last option, check your Screen Options on top and make sure there is a checkmark next to Incoming Links.

the incoming links box is still there. and new links appear… for a time. but then the newer ones go away, leaving only links from a long time ago.

Exactly. I removed it from displaying on my dashboard. I rely on my Google webmasters account and open site explorer.

My incoming links haven’t been showing since 2009 either. They don’t even show up and then disappear. VERY frustrating. Was looking for help with this, but it looks like my best option is to use another site. Boo WP.

I assume that you don’t you know how to locate the incoming links to your blog?
Search string format to type into Google (note there is no pace following the colon)
link:example.comSearch string for your blog to type into Google
link:http://psychmamma.wordpress.com/Search results for your blog > http://tinyurl.com/4mple3v
The results display all the sites linking to your site. Note that you can also track the total number at the top to see if links are increasing or decreasing.
You can also use Yahoo site explorer > http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/
Site Explorer allows you to explore all the web pages indexed by Yahoo! Search. View the most popular pages from any site, dive into a comprehensive site map, and find pages that link to that site or any page.Or you can use seo moz open site explorer for a detailed analysis http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/
