All passwords rejected
-
Been a while (almost a year I think) since I last wanted to write anything on my blog, but now I cannot login using password, since wordpress claims it’s the wrong password associated with my account name. Even after having changed password to a new password. And when that was rejected when I tried to log in, I changed password again, to one that WordPress itself suggested to me. Even that was rejected.
I really need to file a bug report or something, but didn’t see anyone at wordpress I could turn to. Hopefully they scan this space, or you guys know how to reach them?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you are currently posting in this thread from the username
mikaelsvarldwhich appears to be associated withmikaelsvarld.home.blog– could you let us know the address of the login page where you’re getting these errors? -
I’m using the address https://wordpress.com/log-in
I’ve tried in both Chrome and Firefox now, same result: “Oops, that’s not the right password. Please try again!”
If you’re asking howcome I’m logged in posting this, it’s because I used the login by clicking link in email option, thank God for that option. But I would prefer if log in by password worked.

Hello there,
https://wordpress.com/log-in is where you would log into WordPress.com – are you able to provide the URL of the site you’re looking to work with?

Hi there,

We are not able to see the password you have set, so we have no way to test out what you have currently, but I see that you have tested in a few different browsers, but on the same computer. To rule out your computer as an issue I would like you to try to log in using a smartphone or tablet instead. Do you have this option?
If so, please launch the browser on your mobile device and try https://wordpress.com/log-in/ are you able to log in to your account from a different device instead of your usual Windows computer?
Thanks for the additional info!

Thanks for clarifying. Is your phone connected to the same wifi network as your Windows computer? Just to rule out your network as the issue, do you have the same trouble if you try logging in while your Android is connected to cellular data (5g, LTE, etc) instead?

Got it. As you might guess this is difficult for us to troubleshoot since your password is private, even from us. So we have no way to see the password you have set currently.
Out of curiosity, is it a pretty complicated password (uppercase, lowercase, special characters, etc.) or is it fairly simple? If you have set a really complicated password, as a test can you try setting your account to use something simpler instead?
I would ask that you try this only temporarily. Set your account to a simple password, then try to log in. Are you able to proceed or unable to log in no matter how simple of a password you have set?
Naturally after this test, please set a secure password again to be safe. I’d just like to see if a simpler password will get you logged in, and if that succeeds we can take a closer look at how you are setting your password, thanks!

One last thing I’d like you to try (you can do this before trying the password change I suggested above) is to try logging in on your Windows computer, using Chrome, but try an Incognito Window instead of a regular browser window. This should skip any extensions or settings that might interfere with login.
Do you have any luck with your password at https://wordpress.com/log-in/ via an Incognito window? -
The password that I do have is pretty complicated yes, but the last I set was a password suggested by WordPress as i thought it has to be accepted since it’s suggested by the site itself.
Funny thing, I tried to set another simpler password now, but it didn’t change for this blog, but for another blog of mine, with a different user name, though I entered the username for this blog. But after that password change, it’s now possible for me to log in using the password WordPress suggested on this blog, as I wanted. Have no idea how it happened or how it got this entangled. But I’m happy that it works, and hope it lasts. Didn’t have to check incognito mode.
