All the stuff I use most has been hidden

I run quite a few sites. Mainly, apart from editing existing pages, I need to add pages and update menus. The simplest most intuitive way to work is to view the site and have a menu of tasks, the old WP Admin was great when you could access it directly from a button.
But these days when you want to do anything you find yourself wandering round a perplexing world of statistics displays and stuff that’s of little immediate interest, and you can’t just move freely between the site and the editing functions.
Also if I want to select a site to view, or even create a new site, I’m lost in a strange world where almost anything but looking at your site seems to have greater priority. In the old days your WordPress home page was a list of your sites, click on the site and you could view it as a user. Simple and exactly what I wanted.
I just want to go to a site, go to an editing/customising menu, make changes and view the site. Everything else is flim flam and time wasting.
I used to tell people WordPress is a great way for an ordinary person to create and maintain a website. Now I would not be confident to do that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s all still available, and you can still get to the Dashboard too: https://en.support.wordpress.com/dashboard/
We don’t plan to remove that any time soon.
