All the text appearing in the image caption
-
Sometimes I upload posts which have around 5 images and text either side (right or left)
It can sometimes take me 4 or 5 hours to do a post like this. It is driving me nuts.
Half way through the post when I upload my 2nd or 3rd image, add a caption and choose to have the image appear on the right or the left of the post. Then I write my paragraph of text beside the image in the text editor, however when I SAVE the page all the text I have writte appears in the image caption as well, then I have to delete the image and the photo and start again!
What is the problem? Is there some upgrade I can get which offers a better text editor? -

The only way I could see text you were entering into the editor getting into the caption is if the cursor (if you were looking in HTML view) was within the caption section of the HTML code for the image.
For quite some time, I’ve been doing things sort of in reverse and write all the text first, and then go back and put in the images. I’ve never had, nor heard of the problem you are describing with text getting into the caption. As I said, the only thing I can think of is that the cursor was within the code for the image.
To make sure it isn’t a problem with cursor position, when you get ready to insert an image that you want the text to wrap around, Type a word into the editor as a placeholder (you can change it later) and then move the cursor back to the beginning of the word and insert the image. Then after the image is inserted, you can continue your text and change that first word if you need to.

You you are say that the best way is to type all my test first and then insert the images after? Will the test then wrap around either side of the image depending on whether I put it on the right or the left?

You format the images when you put them in. Choose left or right accordingly.
I have made a habit of just deleting the caption code from my images. That might work for you as well. Just click to the HTML editor and delete everything in square brackets around your images. Don’t forget to delete the closing square brackets as well. I’m sure there’s a programmer who worked very hard on captions whose heart breaks every time someone does this, but the most important thing is to get a blog that just works.

Thanks guys. I tried a test post, this time I wrote in all the text first then I added the images, it works very well. This will save me a lot of time. My heat was broke adding the images as I went along as a lot of the time the text was ending up inside the caption for some reason
