All Top New Search Is Showing WordPress sites as compromised sites – Urgent
-
I want to know why wordpress sites that have their down domain are coming up as hacked sites on All Top New search?
http://michael-jackson.alltop.com/If you click on any of the wordpress sites with .com, a security message pops up. If the site is still under .wordpress.com, this does not appear to be happening. I know my site does not contain viruses as McAfee as declared it as safe.
This has been happening for a week now. The sites with the wordpress domain do not appear to have this issue and will come right up right away. The message says that your connection is not private and says that attackers may be trying to steal your information from (site Name). Can you get them to fix this issue? It is keeping people from visiting our sites and could ultimately gives a bad rating on the internet. Your prompt attention to this matter is most appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think it has to do with WordPress.COM moving to encrypted connections (https) – security certificates are licensed to wordpress.com but not the mapped domain name for custom domain names.
The issue can also be with how your browser is handling security certificates.
I have flagged this for the staff to give you more info.

Thank you so much for flagging this. I get the same message no matter which browser I use at home or at work. I see they are all away until next week, but I hope the can provide a remedy for this speedily.

The staff do check the forum even when they are away plotting to take over the world or whatever, this has came up in the past & Google is starting to do some search ranking based on if a site is https

I think auxclass may be right. See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/encription-for-wordpress-blog-posts?replies=22

Hi there,
Can you send me a link to a site where you get a message like this?
As auxclass mentioned, this error can come from your browser if you try to access a WordPress.com site with a custom domain name using https. (For example, you may see that error if you try to visit your site at https://vallieegirl67.com/ instead of http://vallieegirl67.com/ .) We have more details about that here: HTTPS

This is my site, and it is a REAL problem if wordpress cannot resolve this, I will have to leave wordpress.com (i was getting nearly £200 a month in advertising without writing posts) so this will be a financial loss to wordpress too.
I cannot continue to use wordpress.com, if all of my posts, work that I have spent almost 2 years on – is coming up as unsafe because of wordpress. Please please help!!

@positivagirl
Please be aware that many of us, myself included, have more than one blog on our own domains that have been hosted here for far longer than just 2 years, and that all of our sites are likewise impacted. Also note that it is the weekend and Staff have a backlog from last week so patience while waiting is required. -
It might only be ‘just’ 2 years…. it still made thousands in revenue, and had almost 2 million hits in that time.
Wouldn’t have thought how long someone was here is important. To wordpress – as a business model, it should be about how much money they are going to lose.
I just need to know whether I now have to change to wordpress.org.

It was you who emphasized years and traffic numbers and revenue. It was not me, so do be clear on that, and on the fact that your situation is not unique.

Hi there,
The warning that you’re getting when you’re clicking on the link from alltop.com is the same one you get any time that you try to go to the https version of a domain when there is no SSL attached.
We don’t currently have any way to attach an SSL to a custom domain. We are continuing to research how this might be a possibility in the future, but at the present time it isn’t something which we can put in to place.

@rachelmcr – I’ve provided all the links in my original message for review. Nothing happens when I visit my page directly, but I don’t want to get low ratings on the internet as a hacked or suspicious site so it matters.
@amightywp – I have been on a Go Daddy domain for two years and never had a problem until now, so I figured that it’s something that WordPress has changed to cause this to occur. I think it is wrong to do this to the users who have purchased private domains from sources than WP. Alltop is now removing the sites with this problem from their search listings. My views have been greatly impacted by this change. If there is nothing that you can do about this, then I have no choice than to eventually move my site from WordPress altogether. I refuse to be forced to buy a .com domain from WP. To prevent duplication, I have also bought other domains from Go Daddy and you only have .com for purchase. I feel it’s all about the money. I have purchased site redirect and more memory space from WP, so you are not losing money with customers like me because we do buy other products.
Just not a cool way to do business….

Hi @vallieegirl67,
This isn’t a recent change on the WordPress.com side. Users with mapped domains have always experienced problems when trying to reach their domain over an https connection like this:
https://vallieegirl67.comAs Ash previously explained, the error message you’re seeing is a result of a certificate error. The browser expects to see one from vallieegirl67.com, but instead, it sees one from vallieegirl67.wordpress.com. The mismatch triggers the error.
Currently, we do not have a method to create an SSL for custom domains at WordPress.com. So, it’s not possible to fix the error you’re seeing when viewing your site over https. However, other versions of your domain (like http://vallieegirl67.com and http://www.vallieegirl67.com) will all work correctly.
The SSL error you see when you visit your site over https shouldn’t be hurting search engine rankings. I checked the statistics for your site over the past few weeks, and the values seem to fall into normal fluctuations.
