Avira anti-virus blocking WordPress.com?
-
This is scary and ridiculous. ALL WordPress.Com Blogs have Ceased Operating on my computer, including mine, due to a Special Page from Avira Anti-Virus, that indicates their sudden new nature as Dangerous Phishing sites.
Is this a problem with Avira, WordPress.Com, My Computer, or all of the above?
I no longer have confidence in WordPress.Com. I have stayed up all night in an attempt to resolve the problem. I thought this host had the best security compared to Yahoo, Tripod, Lycos, etc. I also thought Avira was one of the top 3 virus programs.
How can I backup my blog on WordPress.Com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Why does this happen?
either WordPress, and/or Avira, needs to fix the problem, or else, customers will take business to other providers.
Does this mean someone stole my password?
Can wordpress recommend a virus program that will override Avira and fix their problems?
This is horrible. An outrage and a disgrace.

Uh, no.
YOUR COMPUTER HAS STOPPED OPENING WORDPRESS SITES BECAUSE YOU ARE RUNNING BAD SOFTWARE.
Fix it.

I have wordpress.com, not wordpress.org
So the $10 I save by providing free advertising every month is supposed to keep the system free of phishing attacks.
Company should at least come on these forums and explain why they and Avira cannot get along.
-
I can explain that.
Avira is wrong. If you wish to use your sites, you need to find an alternative method of protecting yourself from viruses. Do you know what a phishing attack is? It’s not possible to run one on WordPress.com, actually. Your software is mistaking you putting in your password and getting redirected to your dashboard for a case of bait and switch.
The fault is your virus scanner. Contact the manufacturer.

I’m using Avira (the free version) and I haven’t seen a problem. Check your settings, or uninstall then reinstall.
-
Thanks and I will delete Avira and try another anti viral program. However, WordPress.Com would be best served to make its template compatible with Avira.
And it wasn’t just entering the password that triggered the Avira Alert. It also occurred with any random WordPress.Com site, searchable with Google, and even including http://www.wordpress.com

I changed the title of the thread because it appears the caps lock button on your keyboard experienced a malfunction.
If you see an antivirus warning, please contact your a/v software provider or check your settings. We keep WordPress.com malware and virus clear and you should not see warning of this nature.

I recommend checking WP.com with an alternative Free anti-virus software Such as AVG etc.
I use webroot and there is no warning popping up on my end that states they are compromised in any way… So it sounds like to me either the software is bad or the settings need to be readjusted…
I even ran a check through the Bright Cloud Data Base and WP.com received a clean bill of health you’re more than welcome to check the results for yourself http://www.brightcloud.com/support/lookup.php
