    Note: at last night’s Board Meeting one of the other members disclosed that she has some training and experience, and volunteered to take over for me next week. (I’m much relieved!!!!) She coming to me home to work in it come day next. I/we will write here again when she’s here. I f there is anything that I can do to make some progress before that I’m willing. In My recent messages here you can see what sort of multipage format we’ll want. A Home page with a picture heading and some introductory text to be added later, and the balance of that page and three or four more pages with a simple header just Creekside Homeowners Association and a small square of the picture in the upper left corner, and the res of the page just 1 o 2 word Capitalized Subject Headings, for us to add text under later as we proceed finishing it.

    Supernovia, I’ve done that, and Page 1 (reconfigured) as it comes up with creeksideinsumne,.com would be Page 1, NOTE – At a Board meeting last night another of the Boards members disclosed that she has some training and experience with websites; and she’ll take over for me for me! Whew!!! She’ll come over one day next to work on it with me, and we’ll get back to you then. That said, I believe that the “format” she’ll be after is as I have outlined it in my last several messages. That is, page 1 with a picture heading and some intro text on one or with it, and the rest of that page and the succeeding pages just one or two word Subject Headings, for us to write text into ourselves as we proceed to complete it. The heading on the succeeding pages, just Creekside Homeowners Association across the top, with a small square of the picture in the upper left corner. I will print out the last several of my messages to you, for her to read.
    Anything I can do meanwhile to get it started, I’m willing. Suggestions?

    LisKarkowski, Hi Liz, and are you still with me with My Blog? Our-Place-In-The-Cosmos. Just the Blog Page that I still don’t fully understand. There are two Posts be me on it now. They’re are OK, but in the wrong order. Can they be reversed? The “Okaaay, here it is…..” in first place. And the Font is different on the two? How do I get the same font on those two, and all future.

    And how it works: When I do a new Post- Does it just stay there? If there is no response? A comment button for a reader comment? Or if I want to Respond? If there’s a comment does that “conversation” move and stay somewhere else? Could you summarize for me? Thank You !!!

  • Hi @allanmerry, I wasn’t online this weekend. Were you and the other board member able to sort this out?

    If not, can you try these steps I suggested earlier?

    Go to My Site > Customize > Homepage Settings. Select the page you published as the front page.

Hopefully, if you open it the same way I do, you’ll see what I did, and determine whether I’m on the right track. I open it with the following: creeksideinsumner and I get the same with crereksideinsumner.com.

    Did you try these steps?
    Go to My Site > Customize > Homepage Settings

    Select “CREEKSIDE HOMEWOWNERS ASSOCIATION AT THE FOOT OF THE MOUNTAINS WELCOME HOME” as the front page.

    I opened the site from ” creeksideinsumner.com ” that I have saved in my Windows “Favorites” folder. What I saw: small square “Flower Pots” picture. Below that all in a line CREEKSIDEHOMSOWNERASSPOCIATIONSATHEFOOTOFTHEMNO0UNTAINWELCOME. Below that in small print: Home About Contact. (Bottom right corner: “Customizer”) Next the “This is your first Blog Post” business. I clicked on the Home button, and Customizer. Next below: the “Mountain cliff” picture, big. And then it again. Finally, all the one or two word, Capitalized “Topic Headers,” to be spaced over the rest of P.1 and two or three additional pages, under which we (the HOA members) would write in all the text of the various subjects. Plus some more short text that I meant to explain that “format.” The 2nd, 3rd or more pages would all have the same simple text written across the top of the page. And with a small (say, 2″x2″) square of the picture in the top left corner. So, as I visualize it, the initial setup would be just be a re-do of the Page 1 Header and Introduction; and then the shot Topic Headers in caps, spread around the page(s) to be moved as needed when the full text is written in. Plus, provision for back and forth text, with the QUESTIONS/COMMENTS heading. Altogether a pretty “plain” format. Two final pieces: Must allow us to substitute the Picture, and change the P. 1 Heading Text. REMOVE the description of me, taken somehow from my Blog, that’s still shown at the very bottom. I’m ready to work on it! Allan

  • Are you describing what you see or what you want to see? It sounds like you are describing what you want to see. And I think I have a pretty good idea how to help you get there. But I do need you to take that first step so we can move on to the next one.

    Are you having trouble going to Customize > Front Page and selecting that “creekside homeowners association” page? This what I need you to do before we can take the next step.

  • Also, for what it’s worth, if I were in charge of your HOA website, I might make it something more like this:

    Except I would make it about the HOA rather than about a wedding, and I would use pictures of the mountains and flowers and what not instead of wedding pictures, of course.

    I keep trying to reply, and then suddenly what I’ve written just disappears. SO FIRST, is there a way to recover what disappears? This is, literally, my fifth “start completely over.” So after I write some, and it hasn’t yet disappeared, I will “submit” that piece and then immediately start a new one taking up where the other left.

    So: I don’t know what a thread is. But if it helps set this up the way I’ve described, then yes, do it. BTW, where/what is my present looong thread?

    Supernovia continued: The thing I want to emphasize is that we want a “Plain,” unadorned site. It’s sole purpose is to record a about a dozen or so different subject that the Association Membership needs to have ands refer back to. All the pages with same white (or some very light color) full page background. The only “visual adornment” would be the picture header with some short bits of text on or under it, on Page 1. Under that, the rest of that page would begin with the short, (bold & CAPS) Topic Headings spaced across the page, with blank space beneath them to add in the full text later. (Continued)

    Supernovia #3. The first line could be PAGE CONTENTS CONTACT US
    and QUESTIONS AND
    COMMENTS
    For those three, there should be enough space between for comparatively short texts to be added in vertical columns below. The other HEADINGS, requiring more space, would be set at Left Margin, and the text below full page across. Same on the succeeding three or four pages. Page heading on those: (Bold Caps) CREEKSIDE HOMEOWNERS ASSPOCIATION. With a SMALL (2″ x 2″) set in the upper left corner. Containing the rest of the Topic Headings and their corresponding.
    And, Lastly, (?) The “instructions” under QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
    would need to include any limits on how they’re to be used and a link for submitting them.. I don’t yet have a date to meet with the Board Member who has volunteered to help me. Should I set the date and then inform you, so we can together at that date/time? Allan

    Supernovia, (Thanks upon Thanks upon Thanks!!) NOW is see what a thread is; my months and pages of questions for help. I truly must be the WordPress client from HELL. I think my last long msg to you yesterday describes simple and plain, unadorned “format” that we want. And mostly for us to write in the text under subject headings here at the HOA after it is set up.

    What would you like from me now, next? I need to get it set up, and your and other WP help is priceless. There aren’t words that are sufficient to Thank You All. Allan
