Allow comments
-
I’m about to go mad. I have default article setting set to allow comment son new pages, however after creating a new page comments are not working. I’ve read lots of advice about coding and other hi-tech stuff, however all I want to do is allow comments. Every other page in my blog has comments. I have not changed anything or uploaded anything. My theme is twenty ten. When I go into the edit page I do not see any options for comments – rather I can only see it in the main setting under discussion – which I have enabled.
Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Comments on posts and pages are enabled by default on all WordPress blogs. However, you can enable and disable comments on WordPress.com blogs on this page Dashboard > Settings > Discussion
That is where you set up defaults for comments and other comment options http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

Hi,
Unfortuantely your help isn’t helping me. I’ve tried everything you suggest. I have allow comments on default article settings. I have everything ticked. Every other page on my blog has comments enabled, I haven’t changed the settings in months so can’t understand why one page out of 5 refuses to host comments module.
Thanks

I note that you are using only Pages and that the front page of your blog is stating this:

Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive. Perhaps searching will help find a related post.Every theme has a detailed theme description page with set up instructions like this onehttps://wordpress.com/themes/responsive/ and a live demo site like this one https://responsivedemo.wordpress.com/
re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog
There is nothing wrong with your blog.
By default, the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post, not a page, the error message will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
This is a one or the other situation. You have two choices on any blog
(1) All posts on the front page.
(2) A static front page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and all posts on a different page.By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest post, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Posts page:As you set the About as your front page you will need to edit and change that. Editing pages https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#edit-a-page
