allow current followers to see private site?

Hello,
I recently moved my blog from public to private. Is it possible to automatically allow my current followers to see my blog and have any new followers request access?
Or is there a way for me to publish a public post to notify current followers that the site became private but that they’re welcome to request access?

If you change your site from public to private, your followers will no longer be able to view your site unless you invite them as a viewer.
If they happen to visit you site before you invite them as viewers, they will be able to request access to your site.
