Allow preferences in writing

I do the same things every time I write a post and would like to see more options for user preferences. For example, I always upload images from a URL, not from my computer. It would be nice if I could get that to come up as the default tab when I want to insert a photo. Also, I always add the same amount of vertical or horizontal space around an image. Nice if that would default also. These are little things, but they would save a lot of time for a lot of bloggers.

Some thoughts:
Re the first, I think that uploading from your computer is correctly offered as the default, because it’s better. If you have too many images linking to other sites in your main page, the page may take too long to load. You also run the risk of losing images if the original is transferred to another webpage or removed. But of course we could have the option to switch default (perhaps in Settings>Media).
Re the second, you’re probably right, there could be more default options when you insert an image (note that some options aren’t even available then, and you have to edit the image afterwards). I guess they have it that way so as not to confuse beginners with too many options that aren’t always needed. For space around an image, in particular, there’s also the problem that some themes do that automatically.

The first is not a problem for me since I upload ALL my images to photobucket. I would at least like the option to save that as a preference. I’m sure there are many other things that could be set as a preference with an ini file on the local machine, if wordpress just tweaked the code a bit.
