@nikkitytom
Yo! I am with you on that. I have been blogging only rarely (without obligation) last August. My primary blog is a blogging tips blog. It has a good page rank and thousands of followers. Traffic has fallen off as would be expected but it still secures a good traffic every weekday without me doing anything more than changing the featured posts. I strongly prefer WordPress.com hosting and do not want to have to act on my contingency plan.However I have serious health issues and I will not be fully retired until close to this fall or maybe beyond it. So until then I still have to multitask in our business and keep my contracted work up while I answer questions here. Those three I can manage together but I cannot manage composing and publishing posts too. It would just be too much for me.

@timethief … yep. Change is never welcome and it has to be a pretty obvious improvement or people will balk. And some of us have spent a lot of time and effort on our blogs and establishing an “online presence”. And then there’s the exponential element. A critical point at which everything begins to move. I hit one of those points about four months ago. I’d hate to have to forfeit that and start over.
I also have to choose my battles. And this last one detracted from the time I spent on my music ( composition) blog and I have to weigh relative importance of things. It’s a tricky tightrope.
But we win some and lose others. I’m quite content with Jeremeylduvall’s assurance. Thatrobyn gave the same response but not quite so tersely. I like “minimalism” LOL

I am also into music. I decided to do only to do what I like and want to do for the rest of my life whenever I can. After years of not doing so because I was “too busy” to do what I loved to do I’m singing in choirs and some think I sing well. I do sing well enough to pass auditions and singing lifts my spirit the way nothing else can do.
I also have to choose my battles.
I shared my whole process in these forum threads on the new editor honestly. I long to be retired and I’m so happy to be alive.

So, everything Is ok with the world, and just too bad for the 1000s of users out there who don’t know (or are too apprehensive) to come into the forums to find the workarounds?
We were suckered 6 months ago with a cookie-based scheme to provide a link and we’ve been suckered this time with the reassuring message that there are no plans to remove the classic editor. Ever listened to a politician? Saying “we have no plans” is just a diversionary tactic, so that when asked why they changed something despite saying they had no plans to change it, they can “honestly” say that at the time they had no plans to change it.

@knashermac … of course we would prefer the link … and choice. And you’re correct about the forums being almost invisible to newcomers. I found the forums by accident.
The old editor gave us the ability to revise. And newcomers won’t know that because they’ll be led to the New Editor. Therefore I think we should stress that “revision” is absolutely essential. I can’t believe that this would not be included in the new version. If WP is hell-bent on this new version, then they should be sure that it’s not cutting out basic requirements.
And again … I would ask the question. WHY. It’s as essential to a serious blogger as spellcheck. These are basic and crucial tools. Does WordPress really believe newcomers are all Tweeters writing only 120 characters. And mst of thm wil lok lk this.
Where’s the professionalism going?
